Mai Khao Beach is many kilometres of deserted white sand beach with crystal clear water. So if you search for a remote and isolated beach where you can be all alone then Mai Khao Beach should be your first choice.
There is little tourist business here and it is protected as part of the Nai Yang National Park in northern Phuket, there is almost non development just some small wooden buildings offering food to the few visitors.
The water is fine for swimming during the dry season ; the rainy season brings big waves and strong currents that are dangerous.
This lonely beach is another where sea turtles come to lay eggs. It is also home to what the Thais call a sea cicada, which is a form of marine life.
To get there go to the northern tip of Phuket ; the beach lies along the road's length.
